Estonian Embassy building in Latvia, which also houses a consulate, an exhibition room and an ambassador’s residence with a service apartment and a small terrace.
The main feature of the architecture is the façade – eaves and lamellae, finished with spatially cut massive Karma limestone blocks. This blue-gray limestone is the national symbol of Estonia, which emphasizes the function of the building. Stone lamellae are with different angles of cross-section, creating the illusion of a wave when walking along the façade.
“This is not a new working space for Estonian diplomats, it is the next step in cooperation between the two countries. It is a place where Estonian and Latvian ideas, initiatives and partnerships will meet,” estonian President Alars Kariss said at the opening of the new building of the Estonian Embassy in Latvia in the Old Town.
