The Mezaparks Great Bandstand reconstruction stage 1

Valdis Koks managed project as project manager and responsible supervising engineer.

The redevelopment of Mezapark’s Great bandstand features an adaptation of the spectator zone and the bandstand itself, in preparations for the XXVI General Latvian Song and XVI Dance Celebrations of 2018. The area has been increased to 146 430 square metres. The capacity of the podium is increased to 9802 choir singers, of which 2292 stand on temporary wooden stands. The new spectator’s area is 22 197 square metres, with seats for 30 557 viewers. In parallel to the construction work of the installation, the necessary infrastructure for the festival has been constructed: electricity supply, water supply, sewer and rain drainage networks and a new driveway from the Viesturs’ prospectus to the bus parking lots. Under the new spectator area, two-level spaces have been constructed, with toilet rooms providing needs for 30 000 visitors and areas for various trading venues, so that the noise these create do not interfere with concert acoustics.
